Import Firewall

Privacy policy for the Import Firewall Chrome extension, developed by Backwoods Development.

Effective date: October 26, 2026, for version 0.1.0

Overview

Import Firewall is a Chrome extension that reviews a NetSuite CSV import before it is run. It compares the file you plan to import with an export of the same records and lists what would change, what looks risky, and what it cannot assess. All of this happens in your browser, on your computer.

What the Extension Reads

Only the CSV files you choose in its side panel. It does not read web pages, your browsing history, or anything in your NetSuite account.

Where Your Data Goes

Nowhere. The extension makes no network requests of any kind. File contents are processed in your browser and are never uploaded, shared or sold. There are no analytics, advertising or crash-reporting services in the extension, and no remote code.

What the Extension Stores

In Chrome's local extension storage on your computer, the extension keeps:

  • Presets you save: column mappings, file formats, import settings and thresholds.
  • A history of up to 50 reviews: SHA-256 fingerprints of the files, counts of rows and findings, timestamps and the preset name. The fingerprints let you check, right before importing, that a file is the one that was reviewed.

It never stores the contents of your CSV files or the values in them. Removing the extension deletes this storage.

Reports

When you click a download button, the extension creates a report file in your downloads folder. Reports contain values from your files, such as the before and after values of each finding. They stay on your computer, and are yours to keep, share or delete.

NetSuite

The extension has no access to your NetSuite account: no credentials, no tokens and no connection to NetSuite servers.

Permissions

  • sidePanel: shows the extension's interface in Chrome's side panel.
  • storage: keeps the presets and review history described above, on your computer.

The extension requests no access to websites.

This Website

This policy is hosted on the Backwoods Development website, which is separate from the extension. Pages on this website, including this one, use Google Analytics to count visits, and the web server keeps standard logs (such as IP addresses, timestamps and pages requested). None of this involves the extension or your files.

Changes to This Policy

If a future version of the extension handles data differently, this policy will be updated at this URL, with a new effective date, before that version is published.
